LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
The second album is where Sodom move from early chaos into something that holds as songwriting. It was recorded between 2 and 22 October 1987 at Musiclab Studios in Berlin, produced by the band with Harris Johns, and Steamhammer released the 12-inch, SH 0084-1, on 1 December that year.
The biggest change is Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik on lead guitar; the construction of the riffs and the outline of the songs come into focus with him. "Nuclear Winter", "Electrocution" and "Enchanted Land" keep the drive of the earlier records and give it a shape. This is also the album with their reading of Motörhead's "Iron Fist".
The closing "Bombenhagel" is an instrumental quoting the melody of the German national anthem, and it has stayed in the live set ever since. The running order here is the 1987 original's as printed.
