Partisan

On 26 January 2018 SPV announced a new Sodom line-up: Stefan "Husky" Hüskens of Asphyx and Desaster on drums, and two guitarists, Frank Blackfire, who had played on Persecution Mania, Mortal Way of Live and Agent Orange, and Yorck Segatz of Beyondition. Two guitars were a first for Sodom, and Tom Angelripper explained that they would let the band play songs live that the trio had never been able to manage. All three newcomers were Sodom fans living in Essen, and the band's new rehearsal room stood, Angelripper said, exactly where it had all begun in 1982. He also promised a release with at least two new songs and a bonus track as a first taste of the next album. Partisan is that release. Steamhammer/SPV issued it on 23 November 2018 as a CD digipak, a clear 10-inch record, a download and a stream. It holds two new songs, "Partisan" and "Conflagration", and a live "Tired & Red", the Agent Orange song, recorded at that year's Rock Hard Festival. The digital edition adds a fourth track from the same festival, "One Step Over the Line", which had come out three weeks earlier, on 2 November, as a single with a live video. The line-up is Angelripper on bass and vocals, Blackfire and Segatz on guitars and Husky on drums. Angelripper said the band felt like a family again and expected that team spirit to show in the songwriting. The EP followed the album Decision Day and was timed for the band's European tour at the end of the year, the MTV Headbangers Ball package with Death Angel and Suicidal Angels. The same four recorded the Out of the Frontline Trench EP in 2019, and in January 2020 Toni Merkel took over the drums from Husky.
