Slash is the solo debut, on which Slash paired with a wide cast of guest vocalists and played everything from bluesy riffs to arena-scale hard rock. Released in 2010 and produced by Eric Valentine. Four of the Appetite for Destruction-era Guns N' Roses — Slash himself, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler — take part. It was originally to be titled Slash & Friends. The sleeve comes from a painting by pop surrealist Ron English.
The guitar radiates a strong personality on every track, yet the music flexes its expression to suit each singer. Among a line-up that includes Ozzy Osbourne, Ian Astbury, Fergie, Chris Cornell, Lemmy and Iggy Pop, the Japan-first single “Sahara” features B'z's Koshi Inaba, who wrote and sang lyrics in both Japanese and English; it reached No. 4 on the Oricon chart and won Western Single of the Year at the 24th Japan Gold Disc Awards. The album itself hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and No. 7 on Oricon. A record for enjoying how each guest's individuality meets the guitar's constant presence.
