LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
The first album by the band Wagner Lamounier — Antichrist — started in Belo Horizonte in 1985 after leaving Sepultura. It was recorded in July 1987 at J.G. Studio in the same city and released that August by Cogumelo Records as the 12-inch COG007, with Gerald Minelli (Incubus), Zéber (Butcher) and Eduardo (D.D. Crazy) alongside him.
The speed and the distortion go further than anything in Europe at the time; "Satanic Lust", "Desecration of Virgin" and "Deathrash" run as though control had simply been set aside. It is cited as a case of a band reaching the same place from a long way off, with almost no contact with the European scene of the same years.
The photograph of the four of them on the sleeve — spiked wristbands, bullet belts and white-painted faces — is named again and again as a major influence on how black metal would later look. The running order here is the 1987 original's as printed.
