LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
This is the album most often named from the years a German band became known along with the phrase pirate metal. It was recorded at Studio M in Hanover in July and August 1989, produced by Rolf Kasparek and Karl-Ulrich Walterbach, and Noise Records released it on 8 November 1989.
The line-up is Rolf Kasparek on vocals and guitar, Majk Moti on guitar, Jens Becker on bass and Iain Finlay on drums. It is the last album with Moti and Finlay.
"Riding the Storm" and "Bad to the Bone" put singable melody and a chorus ahead of speed, and they show clearly where German power metal would go next. "Bad to the Bone" got airplay on MTV's Headbangers Ball. The ten tracks listed are the LP's: the closing "March On" was left off the vinyl for want of room and appears only on the CD. The player on this page is the fifteen-track version, which adds the Wild Animal EP.
