LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Soundchaser uses cutting guitars, fast rhythm and heavy bass to build tense power/thrash metal. A concept record with a science-fiction, fantastical world, it never loses the force of its riffs or the drive of its choruses. Narrative and aggression coexist at a high level. Cuts that unite speed and weight, such as “War of Worlds” and “Great Old Ones,” sit beside more structured pieces like the title track “Soundchaser” and “Defenders of the Ancient Life,” keeping the album racing forward, while the suite-like “Falling from Grace” brings out a dramatic sense of scale. With technical shifts and straight-ahead aggression sharing the same space, the record holds its tension to the end. Victor Smolski’s precise guitar and Peavy Wagner’s hard-edged voice lock together, binding the band’s musicianship and creativity tightly — a record that shows RAGE’s strength in the 2000s, balancing concept and explosive power.
