LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Queen II (Collector's Edition) builds a box of five CDs and two LPs around the 2026 mix of QUEEN's second studio album, first released in Britain on 8 March 1974. It came out on 27 March 2026, this American pressing on Hollywood Records. The album is laid out as Side White, mostly Brian May's songs, and Side Black, mostly Freddie Mercury's. Justin Shirley-Smith, Joshua J Macrae and Kris Fredriksson, the team behind the Queen I reissue, made the 2026 mix, with May and Roger Taylor as executive producers. The first CD is the album in the new mix, and the second, Sessions, is entirely unreleased: outtakes from the original Trident sessions, the unfinished "Not for Sale (Polar Bear)" among them. The third holds the backing tracks without lead vocals, the fourth the BBC Radio 1 sessions of 1973 and 1974 with the set at Golders Green Hippodrome on 13 September 1973, and the fifth live recordings, most of them from the Rainbow Theatre in 1974. The two LPs carry Side White and Side Black of the 2026 mix on a white and a black disc, one side each, and a 112-page book of unseen photographs, handwritten lyrics, diary entries and the band's own memories completes the set; the CDs carry 58 tracks.
