LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
The lyrics deal in limerence, lust and obsession with an unnamed woman the narrator holds responsible for his suffering. The booklet carries a six-page story of how she became the Terrifyer, and some copies shipped with a slip of paper over the cover to hide the artwork.
The band is Brian Harvey on drums, J. R. Hayes on vocals and design and Scott Hull on guitars, engineering, production and mastering. There is no bass player. Matthew Mills plays the solo on "Towering Flesh", Richard "Grindfather" Johnson sings on "Crawl of Time" and Katherine Katz on "Lost Cause".
The album comes with a second disc recorded in DVD-Audio and mixed in 5.1 surround, holding the band's near-forty-minute sludge metal piece "Natasha". The Japanese release adds four bonus tracks and puts "Natasha" on a second CD instead of a DVD; it was reissued on an ordinary CD by itself in 2008. In 2017 Rolling Stone ranked the album 88th in its hundred greatest metal albums of all time. The running order here is the original CD's as printed.
