Liner Notes

EvangelCore 1, released on 5 December 2025, runs fourteen songs across 48 minutes and is Peyton Parrish's first Christian album. A singer who made his name on Viking metal putting faith itself at the centre was met with scepticism from both the secular and the religious side. The title is his own coinage: EvangelCore, meaning evangelical Christian subject matter set to hard rock and metalcore. The playing came from Jake Clark on bass, Brennen Moloney on drums and Zachary Ferrell on guitar. "Word of God" was the advance single, and a video was made for it. Reviewers converged on one name: David Draiman of Disturbed. Both men use the vocal method known as yarling — the larynx lowered to give a deeper chest voice carrying grit — and one writer went as far as calling this the best album Disturbed never made. The praise was not unanimous. Others noted that the instrumental writing is thin, serving mainly as a bed for the voice, and asked for more of Parrish's own character next time. On the slower "Catch up to You" the growl recedes and what surfaces is the feeling of a man who cannot catch up to his God. "Son of Man" closes it.
