Forgotten Days is the fourth studio album by the American doom metal band Pallbearer, released on 23 October 2020 through Nuclear Blast. It was their first full-length for the label, produced by Randall Dunn.
The reception was unanimous. Metacritic averaged 84 out of 100 from eight reviews and AnyDecentMusic? put the consensus at 7.3 out of 10 from seven. Jon Hadusek of Consequence of Sound called it arguably the best doom metal album of 2020 and an impressive label debut, crediting Dunn's minimalist production for making the record a sonic pleasure and instantly more listenable than Heartless. Thom Jurek of AllMusic wrote that this is the album likely to unite all Pallbearer fans, its return-to-roots aesthetic planted in a physical base that carries the band's dark, progressive doom into a new era.
Hannah May Kilroy of Kerrang! found nothing too out there on it -- the 1980s synth of the closing "Caledonia" the biggest surprise and a welcome one, a playful take on the pain of the past -- with every track solid and any experimentation woven tightly around the band's doom roots: the sound of a genre being refreshed and of a band making it entirely their own. Dave Everley in Classic Rock wrote that the fourth album takes yet more detours without ever losing sight of the path.
