Back to the Beginning is the record of the show of that name at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, on 5 July 2025. It was Ozzy Osbourne's last time on stage: he sang a solo set, then played with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward as the original Black Sabbath, the four together for the first time in more than twenty years and for the last time. He died seventeen days later, on 22 July 2025. Jason Momoa hosted, Tom Morello was the musical director, and more than three million requests were made for the 44,000 tickets.
Ben Wainwright-Pearce directed the film and Tim van Someren the concert footage, for Mercury Studios; Sharon Osbourne, who oversaw the show, was its executive producer. It opened in cinemas worldwide on 28 October 2026, and the film and its soundtrack carry a release date of 11 December 2026 on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, CD, vinyl and digital. Universal Music Japan's Japan-only edition (UIXY-75019, JPY 11,000 including tax) carries the same date.
On the Japan-only edition, disc one is an HD Blu-ray and disc two a 4K UHD Blu-ray, each with the 146-minute film in Dolby 2.0, Dolby 5.1 and Dolby Atmos. The extras are the full Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath performances, video performances of "Mr. Crowley" sung by Jack Black and "Changes" played by Fred Durst, a behind-the-scenes featurette, video tributes with messages from Dolly Parton, AC/DC and Ricky Gervais among others, and the documentary Sounds of Birmingham, three and a half hours of video in all. The Japanese subtitles, Masanori Ito's liner notes and the lyrics with Japanese translations for the CD's songs are on this edition only, and its CD is an SHM-CD.
Disc three, the CD Live from Villa Park, runs fifteen tracks and about 58 minutes. Ozzy Osbourne's solo set is five songs, "I Don't Know", "Mr. Crowley", "Suicide Solution" and "Crazy Train" from Blizzard of Ozz (1980) and "Mama, I'm Coming Home" from No More Tears (1991), played with Zakk Wylde, Mike Inez, Adam Wakeman and Tommy Clufetos. Black Sabbath's set is "War Pigs", "N.I.B.", "Iron Man" and "Paranoid". Jason Momoa's introduction and Ozzy's words sit between the songs, in the order of the day. "Mr. Crowley" was released ahead of the set on 28 October 2026, together with its live video.
