LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
It is the other half of one set of sessions with Deliverance, recorded between 22 July and 4 September 2002 and again on 7 October at Studio Fredman and Nacksving Studio in Gothenburg. Most of the singing was done at Steven Wilson's No Man's Land in Hemel Hempstead, England. Wilson produced, recorded, mixed and mastered it and played keyboards, piano, mellotron and backing vocals as well. It remains the last Opeth album he has produced. It is the first record they made with no distorted guitar and no death growls at all, carried instead by clean singing, acoustic guitar and mellotron, and the progressive rock of the 1970s — Camel above all — is what gets named for it. A 2015 reissue paired it with Deliverance and published Wilson's 5.1 mix of this album for the first time. Europe had it on 14 April 2003, the United States on 22 April and Japan on 8 May (BMG Funhouse, ZJCI-10171). The running order here is the original's as printed.
