Liner Notes
ATBPO takes its name from the initials of “And The Band Played On,” and as the title suggests, it embodies the band’s will to keep playing even in difficult times. Made under conditions where the members could hardly gather in person amid global upheaval, it loses none of the exhilaration and melodic strength so characteristic of NIGHT RANGER. The ensemble is so tight that you would never guess how much of it was built remotely, with a band-wide unity running through the whole record. It is a forceful hard-rock album that turns adversity straight into energy.
The core is intact — the vocals of Jack Blades and Kelly Keagy and the sharp guitar of Brad Gillis — as dynamic riffs and wide-opening choruses drive the whole record. Driving rock tunes and melodic mid-tempos are placed in good balance, tying the appeal of old to the momentum of now without any friction. Turning hard circumstances to its advantage and delivering a record of unchanged quality, it underscores once more the underlying strength of veterans who have worked at the front line for decades. A record made under difficult conditions that never loses its bright, open tone, it vividly reflects NIGHT RANGER’s indomitable band spirit.
