LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
This record pulls back the folk music that had been so prominent on A Sun That Never Sets and puts more industrial texture in its place. The trudging mass of the sound is unchanged, but it is handled more dynamically, and the result sits closer to post-rock than anything in their earlier work. The band is Scott Kelly on guitar and vocals, Steve Von Till on guitar, vocals and what the sleeve calls filters and textures, Dave Edwardson on bass, Moog and "space", Noah Landis on organ, piano, samples and "atmospheres", Jason Roeder on drums and Josh Graham on visual media. Those credits are a fair description of how the band divides its sound. Desmond Shea plays trumpet on "Left to Wander" and "Shelter", and Jeffrey Luck Lucas plays cello on "I Can See You". It came out on the band's own Neurot Recordings, with a Relapse pressing in the United States the same month. The running order here is the original's as printed.
