REVIVE fixes NEMOPHILA’s early momentum into a complete debut album. The band had developed through live shows, independent singles, streaming performances and YouTube covers, continuing to communicate even when the pandemic restricted normal activity. That experience gives the title—revival—a meaning beyond a single song. Heavy metal forms the core, but metalcore, nu metal, grunge and Japanese melodic sensibility are connected without hesitation. Saki and Hazuki’s seven-string guitars, Haraguchi-san’s thick low end, Tamu Murata’s precise but explosive drumming and Mayu’s highly expressive voice already form a remarkably complete identity. “REVIVE” states the will to rise again, while “DISSENSION” drives forward through urgent riffs and resistance. “Hozuki” adds sensual darkness, “HYPNOSIS” introduces a modern pulse, and “GAME OVER” turns aggression into a memorable hook. “Life” and “SORAI” give the album emotional light and shade before “RAITEI” and “OIRAN” connect Japanese imagery with the band’s loudest attack. Direct enough to reach listeners outside Japan but colored by the language and atmosphere of its origin, REVIVE remains both NEMOPHILA’s starting point and one of its defining records.
