Liner Notes
Apple of my eye is the first album fully shaped by NEMOPHILA’s four-piece line-up after Saki’s departure, and it answers a difficult transition through music rather than explanation. The title expresses something deeply precious, and that feeling reaches across both the aggressive and reflective songs. Hazuki carries the guitar space alone without overfilling it, balancing the definition of heavy riffs with deliberate room. Haraguchi-san and Tamu Murata move freely through metal, loud rock and funk-informed bounce, while Mayu expands the distance between harsh attack and intimate melody.
“Just Do It!” opens with immediate force, “PROGRESS” turns determination into forward motion, and “BRAINWASH” tightens the record into an urgent groove. In contrast, “Beautiful days” reveals the band’s ability to address memory and loss without surrendering power. “G.O.D.” brings crushing weight, “AKAKAGACHI” adds a distinctly Japanese poison, and “Anata Dare” introduces unease before “Good as hell quartet” celebrates the chemistry of the four players. More than a restart, the album marks NEMOPHILA’s growth as a self-writing band whose mixture is driven by personality rather than genre labels.
