On Parole

On Parole is the album that should have been Motörhead's first. United Artists issued it as LBR 1004 on 8 December 1979, more than three years after it was recorded. The sessions ran in September and December 1975, with overdubs in January and February 1976, at Rockfield Studios in South Wales. The players are Lemmy Kilmister on bass and vocals, Larry Wallis on guitar — he also sings lead on "Vibrator" and "Fools" — and Phil Taylor and Lucas Fox on drums. Fritz Fryer and Dave Edmunds produced. Nine tracks. The label shelved it, and the tapes only appeared once Overkill and Bomber had established the band. It reached No. 65 on the Official Albums Chart. The edition now streaming adds four alternate takes from the same sessions, and in 2026 the whole of them was collected as the box set On Parole Sessions.
