Liner Notes
The End, released on 24 October 2025 by BMG, is the third album: ten songs, 39 minutes. This is where the name changed. Not Mammoth WVH — just Mammoth. Wolfgang Van Halen has said he wanted to be simply Mammoth from the beginning, that they put in a crazy amount of work to get there, and that it feels like a rebirth. It is also his first titled album without a number in it.
The method changed too. From late 2024 he stopped doing what he had always done — sitting in Logic Pro typing out a MIDI drum part and then playing guitar to it. At 5150 Studios with Michael "Elvis" Baskette he played guitar in the moment, ran out, and played the drums, literally moving between instruments to demo the parts live. Doing them back to back in real time, he says, was a game changer; making demos live was something he had never done, and it was important to this record. The urgency is audible. It runs from the hypnotic "One Of A Kind" through the title track, "The Spell," "I Really Wanna" and "Happy" to the closer "All In Good Time." The principle has not moved in three albums: he writes all of it, plays all of it, sings all of it.
