LANGUAGE
Rock Shocks, released by Tokuma Japan Communications on 27 October 2004, is a self-cover album.
The reunited line-up of Takasaki, Niihara, Yamashita and Higuchi re-recorded the band's best-known songs of the 1980s. The point is that the same four musicians play the same songs twenty years later: nothing here is a reissue of an old tape, every take is new.
Self-covering is a method Loudness has returned to repeatedly — as English-language rewrites on On the Prowl in 1991, and again on Samsara Flight in 2016. This album later travelled abroad as the bonus disc attached to the international edition of Racing in 2005.
