Liner Notes
Meteora is the second album, made following the success of the debut, refining Linkin Park's sound further. Don Gilmore produced again, and the fusion of heavy guitar, hip-hop and electronics is polished a step further. It is also the first studio album after bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farrell officially joined. The title, taken from the Greek monastery complex "Meteora," suggests a solemn world.
"Numb" sang of universal loneliness and became one of the band's foremost signature songs. "Somewhere I Belong," "Faint" and "Breaking the Habit" also became hits in turn, reaching a wide audience. Aggression, lyricism and melodic polish bind at a high level, generating even more tension than the debut. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 and reached six-times platinum. A signature work alongside the debut, it made the band's popularity unshakable.
