Queen of the Ocean

LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Queen of the Ocean is a work on which Lana Lane drew a fantastical rock world with expansive keyboards, dramatic guitar and translucent-kept vocals. Even as the songs develop progressively, the melody is always at the center, never leaving the listener behind. Subjects evoking the sea give the whole work an elegant unity. On “In the Hall of the Ocean Queen,” “Queen of the Ocean” and “Souls of the Mermaids,” arrangements that ebb and flow like waves give the work an elegant scale. Songs like “Night Falls,” “Let Heaven In” and “Rhapsody” breathe the work’s full expression too. It evokes grandeur and intimacy at once. It is a beautiful record on which Lana Lane’s symphonic rock reached a certain completion.
