LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
This is the second album by the six-piece from Stavanger, and its title is Norwegian for more. It came out on 25 March 2013 through Sony Music Scandinavia in Scandinavia and Roadrunner Records everywhere else, with Indie Recordings handling the vinyl; the American date was the 26th.
It was recorded at GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts, and produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge. The band stack three guitars and lay the drive of 1970s hard rock and punk directly over black metal chugging and tremolo, while Erlend Hjelvik screams throughout as a black metal singer would. The combination is what makes it funny as well as heavy. Every lyric is in Norwegian, and in the writer's own regional dialect at that.
John Dyer Baizley of Baroness painted the cover, as he had the first album's. Videos were made for "Bruane Brenn", "Manelyst" and the song named after the band, "Kvelertak". Ashley Rose Redshaw sings backing vocals on "Spring fra livet" and "Nekrokosmos". In 2017 Rolling Stone placed the record ninety-sixth on its hundred greatest metal albums of all time.
