The Sea Of Emotion

This is the first studio album Joe Satriani and Steve Vai have made together. earMUSIC issues it on 6 November 2026 as 0221639EMU, ten tracks in a digipak, and no Japanese edition has been announced. The three-part suite The Sea Of Emotion is the core of the record. The two met on Long Island in 1973, when a 13-year-old Vai began taking guitar lessons from a 17-year-old Satriani; the suite's third part opens with the sound of an old reel-to-reel tape of one of those lessons. What had been meant as a single track grew into an album once Satriani had finished the first and second parts and sent them to Vai. Eric Caudieux produced and played keyboards. The rhythm section is drawn from long-standing collaborators, among them drummers Gregg Bissonette, Jeremy Colson, Kenny Aronoff, Matt Chamberlain and Mike Mangini and bassists Billy Sheehan, Bryan Beller, Philip Bynoe, Matt Bissonette, Marco Mendoza and Henrik Linder, while Glenn Hughes sings on I Wanna Play My Guitar. Four songs came out ahead of the album, each with a video on earMUSIC's channel: The Sea Of Emotion, Pt. 1 in March 2024, I Wanna Play My Guitar in May 2025, Dancing in March 2026 and Mayhem in September 2026. SATCHVAI Band, announced in 2025, is the pair plus Kenny Aronoff, Marco Mendoza and Pete Thorn.
