Mood Swings 30th Anniversary Edition

Mood Swings is the second Harem Scarem album, from 1993, and in Japan it was the record they debuted with. Marquee's own copy describes how it travelled: word started in the specialist press and the album became a hit very quickly. It is the record that holds "Saviors Never Cry", "No Justice" and "Change Comes Around" — the songs still named alongside the band — and the verdict that it is what settled their standing in Japan has not moved since. This edition marks its thirtieth year. It began as a disc attached to the band's own anniversary bundle and could not be bought on its own. Listeners kept asking for it, the label negotiated with the band, and a standalone release followed; that sequence is what Marquee set out in the product copy. The Japanese edition is pressed as an SHM-CD and runs to seventeen tracks. The first eleven are the album; from twelve, six acoustic versions — of "Saviors Never Cry", "Sentimental Blvd.", "Had Enough", "Mandy", "No Justice" and "Stranger Than Love" — are what the label states are exclusive to this pressing. About sixty-six minutes in all, catalogue number MICP-30178, released on 6 December 2023. No international edition of this configuration is in distribution. Apple Music and Spotify both carry the 1993 original and the 2013 re-recording Mood Swings II, and the seventeen-track disc exists at retail only as the Japanese release. That is why this page leads with the sleeve and carries no player.
