Palace for the People is Greta Van Fleet's first album in three years, released by Republic Records on 9 October 2026 as the follow-up to 2023's Starcatcher, a Grammy nominee for Best Rock Album. Universal Music Japan released it as an SHM-CD (UICY-16536, 3,300 yen); the Japanese date was moved from 9 to 14 October.
It was recorded in spring 2026 at the band's own studio in Tennessee and co-produced by the band and Mike Elizondo, whose credits include Turnstile, Eminem and Fiona Apple. The four kept that stretch free of press and touring, reworking unfinished demos and part-written songs while writing a good deal of new material as well. Jake Kiszka calls it a rock and roll record at its core that is very modern at heart, and Josh Kiszka says that the time together off the road left the band closer than ever.
The title goes back to the band's 2022 world tour and a headline show at Alexandra Palace in London on 25 June 2022, where a friend told them that the Victorian building had first been known as the Palace of the People, built as a gathering place for the public rather than for monarchs or aristocrats. Sam Kiszka ties it to the fans who keep telling him they became best friends through the band's music or at its shows: the music itself, he concluded, is the band's palace.
On 27 May 2026 the band played New York's Bowery Ballroom, their first concert since September 2024, and two days later released "Play Your Games" with a video made by MOONBASE; the song grew out of an early demo they came across while going through their own archive. "Saw You Stand", a ballad Josh describes as a love song powerful enough to bring him to tears, arrived with the album announcement on 31 July, and "Tear It Down", the second of the thirteen tracks, followed on 18 September.
Japanese first-come bonuses are a 60 x 70 mm sticker at most shops, an A4 clear file at Tower Records and a mega jacket for orders from Amazon.co.jp.
