LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Forgotten Tomb was started in Piacenza, Italy, in 1999 by Ferdinando "Herr Morbid" Marchisio. It was a one-man project, begun after his previous black metal band Sacrater broke up. The first EP, Obscura Arcana Mortis, was recorded by him alone and issued in 2000 by Treblinka Productions in an edition of 215 CDs. This, the first full-length, was likewise recorded and produced by him on his own. There are five long pieces, and the lyrics of the early albums are mostly about depression and suicide, where the later ones deal in negativity and nihilism. AllMusic describes the band as a "black metal outfit that flirts with doom and goth". The next record, Springtime Depression in 2003, was the last on which he played everything himself; from Love's Burial Ground in 2004 the band recorded with a full line-up, with Ted Wedebrand sitting in on drums between 2002 and 2003. The running order here is the original's as printed.
