The Grand Design

The Grand Design is a work on which EDENBRIDGE bound classical keyboards, weighty guitar and the clear voice of Sabine Edelsbacher. While making a grand sound image, the songs do not lose the flow of the melody, proceeding while keeping a fantastical air. The band’s matured compositional skill breathes throughout. On “Terra Nova,” “Flame of Passion,” “The Grand Design” and “Empire of the Sun,” even the longer constructions have fine expression, and the gap between quiet and powerful scenes gives the album depth. Songs like “Evermore” and “On Top of the World” breathe the band’s firm melodic sense too. Rather than merely over-ornamenting, it uses symphonic elements to show the songs’ emotion on a large scale. Supporting symphonic metal’s splendor with the beauty of the singing, it is a full record.
