The Moth (The War - Live)

InsideOutMusic's release of 6 November 2026 gives the March 2025 premiere of Devin Townsend's orchestral work a CD and Blu-ray set of its own, in a six-panel digipak with a 12-page booklet, with a 24-bit download alongside. The performance had already been issued in May 2026 inside the limited deluxe edition of The Moth, where it filled the third CD and the Blu-ray. On stage at De Oosterpoort in Groningen were the Noord Nederlands Orkest and its choir under Jukka Iisakkila, with Townsend singing and playing guitar in front of Darby Todd (drums), James Leach (bass), Mike Keneally and Pete Rinaldi (guitars) and Lynn Wu (lead and backing vocals). They play the studio running order complete, all 24 parts and "Intermission" among them, from "Semi-prologue" to "We Don't Deserve Dogs". Townsend had carried the idea for more than ten years when the head of the North Netherlands orchestra and choir made him an offer after an acoustic concert in Amsterdam. The piece was written as an orchestral and choral score from the start, and this premiere came fourteen months before the studio album appeared on 29 May 2026. Townsend's channel published footage of the Groningen performance before this release: "Home At Night" in April 2026, "Prepare for War" and "The Big Snit" in June, and "Lexin" in September.
