Infernal Overkill

The first full album, after the Sentence of Death EP. It was recorded at Caet Studio in Berlin, engineered by Horst Müller and produced by the band, and Steamhammer put the 12-inch out on 24 May 1985 as SH 0029. The band was Schmier on bass and vocals, Mike Sifringer on guitar and Tommy Sandmann on drums. They are spoken of alongside Sodom and Kreator, but the writing here is already quite different. The riffs of "Invincible Force", "Bestial Invasion" and "Antichrist" work in smaller units, with pitch moving inside the speed, and Schmier's high shriek stands out even among the German bands of those years. Eight songs. It is named as the point at which German thrash had a way of writing that was not an imitation of the British or American bands, and the running order here is the original's as printed.
