Rock of Ages: The DVD Collection

Def Leppard formed in Sheffield in 1977 and took America with two records, Pyromania in 1983 and Hysteria in 1987. They were also one of the bands that understood soonest what MTV was going to do to the way music was heard, and used it better than almost anyone. Rock of Ages: The DVD Collection gathers their music videos. It came out abroad in 2005 and was never released in Japan; this 2023 edition is the first time it has been. Nineteen videos are here. The 1980s run -- "Pour Some Sugar on Me", "Photograph", "Love Bites", "Animal", "Foolin'", "Rocket", "Armageddon It", "Rock of Ages", "Hysteria", "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" -- then "Let's Get Rocked", "Two Steps Behind" and "When Love & Hate Collide", and on to "Slang" and "Work It Out" from the 1996 album. Nearly twenty years of change, in order. Rehearsal footage of "No Matter What" is added as bonus material. Universal Music Japan released this first-press limited edition, with Japanese notes, on 25 October 2023 as UIBY-75138. About eighty-nine minutes.
