LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
This is the eighth album by the band from North Carolina, and the one they gave their own name to. Candlelight Records released it on 28 February 2012, seven years after In the Arms of God, which was the longest gap between their studio records at the time.
The line-up carries most of the meaning. Reed Mullin is back on drums for the first time since America's Volume Dealer in 2000, and for the first time since Technocracy in 1987 Pepper Keenan plays and sings on none of it. Woody Weatherman on guitar, Mike Dean on bass and Mullin on drums is exactly the Animosity trio of 1985, and what comes out is nearer that early collision of hardcore and Black Sabbath weight than the Southern-leaning rock of the 1990s.
All three sing. Mullin takes the vocal on the third track, "Leeches", the eighth, "Weaving Spiders Come Not Here", and the ninth, "What You Despise Is What You've Become". John Custer produced with the band, John Lousteau engineered and mixed, Dave Harris mastered and Seldon Hunt drew the cover. The fifth song, "Your Tomorrow", is a re-recording of a track first issued on a vinyl single in 2010.
