LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
This is the second album by the one-man project Georg Borner started in Germany in 2005. Cold Dimensions released it on 15 July 2016, eight years after the first record, Melancholie-squared, in 2008.
Black metal is the foundation, but what actually reaches the ear is a thick layer of ambient music. The tremolo guitars and the blast beats sit far back while keyboards and strings stretch out in front of them. Eight songs run to nearly an hour, and from "Scars" to "Escape II" time moves through dwelling rather than speed.
Against the unrelieved cold of the first album this one is a little warmer and on a far larger scale. The melodies climb clearly and some of the songs arrive at something that can be called elation. The subjects are still solitude, misanthropy and winter. That the record is called Autumn points less at the season before the winter than at the process of losing things itself. Besides the standard CD, a limited leatherbook edition was made.
