Follow the Reaper

Follow the Reaper is an early signature work on which CHILDREN OF BODOM balanced extreme speed and clear hooks. Alexi Laiho’s guitar and Janne Wirman’s keyboards send out melody as if competing. It is a breakthrough that raised the band’s name internationally. On “Follow the Reaper,” “Everytime I Die” and “Hate Me!,” impressive phrases appear one after another even within the fierce rhythm. Songs like “Bodom After Midnight,” “Children of Decadence” and “Kissing the Shadows” breathe the band’s full playing too. Balancing extreme speed and clear hooks is the strength of this work. Aggressive yet oddly gorgeous, it is a representative record of the band.
