Torn Arteries is the seventh studio album by the English band Carcass, released on 17 September 2021. It takes its name from a demo tape former Carcass drummer Ken Owen recorded in his teens.
Eight years had passed since Surgical Steel of 2013, and this was the first time since Heartwork in 1993 that Carcass had recorded more than one album with the same line-up: bassist and vocalist Jeff Walker, guitarist Bill Steer and drummer Daniel Wilding. It is also the first of their albums on which Owen has no involvement at all. Release had originally been set for 7 August 2020 and the pandemic pushed it back by more than a year.
The band is a trio here, with Walker on bass and lead vocals, Steer on guitars and backing vocals and Wilding on drums and backing vocals. The second song carries the subtitle "Psychopomp & Circumstance March No. 1 in B", and the ninth borrows the name of the band's 1996 compilation, "Wake Up and Smell the Carcass / Caveat Emptor". The order here is the ten tracks of the American digipak CD, NB 5369-0; the Japanese edition (Trooper Entertainment QATE-10130) carries eleven.
