LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
This is the sixth album by the band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Benjamin Burnley, who sings and plays rhythm guitar, produced it himself, and Hollywood Records released it on 13 April 2018 -- their last record for that label before they signed with BMG.
After a run of platinum-selling American albums through the 2000s, the band stopped shortly after Dear Agony in 2009 while Burnley dealt with a long-running illness. The break lasted, and during it he took former members Aaron Fink and Mark James Klepaski to court over decisions made without his consent on the 2011 compilation Shallow Bay: The Best of Breaking Benjamin. He won, kept the rights to the band and its name, and re-formed it in 2014.
He wrote almost all of the next record, 2015's Dark Before Dawn, and toward the end of that work assembled an entirely new line-up around himself with Jasen Rauch and Keith Wallen on guitars and Aaron Bruch on bass. Ember is the second album by that band. The first single, "Red Cold River", came on 5 January 2018; a video for "Torn in Two" went out on the day of release and became the second single on 29 May, and a video for "Tourniquet" followed on 13 December with the single on the 18th.
