Power of the Beast

Power of the Beast is a Japan-only, strictly limited CD issued by Ward Records on 6 December 2024 (catalogue number GQCS-91541, JAN 4571614701233). Four tracks, about seventeen minutes: an EP by any measure. The title song had appeared earlier that year as a digital single, on 27 June. The other three are live takes from the band’s Tokyo shows of 22 and 23 May 2024, billed as ‘Kabukicho Madhouse’ — ‘One Night in Tokyo’, ‘Blind and Frozen’ and ‘Sweet True Lies’. Beast in Black were formed in 2015 by Anton Kabanen after he left Battle Beast, and had by this point released three albums: Berserker (2017), From Hell with Love (2019) and Dark Connection (2021). This disc was presented as something that came out of the band’s relationship with their Japanese audience, and it was not pressed anywhere else.
