    Liner Notes

reDISCOver(ed) is a very strongly conceptual covers album on which Axxis translates many of other artists’ old classics into its own sound. A truly intriguing record when you listen not as a mere miscellany but for how Axxis places external songs into its own distinctive timing, Bernhard Weiss’s voice and the guitar’s ring. Rather than relying on the originals’ high fame, the band’s own sure quirks and aesthetic clearly emerge within the powerful drive of the rhythm, the sure thickness of the choruses and the air before and after the solos. A record on which one wants to turn one’s ear not only to the varied origins of each included song but to the unity born within the album’s ordering. Though a project album a little apart from the flow of the signature works, its way of interpretation strongly shows the artist’s own sure aesthetic. Its playfulness also shines, such as boldly reconstructing disco and pop classics in a metal way. A record letting you deeply savor Axxis’s musical breadth and playfulness from an angle different from the main albums. It also serves as a fine chance to read how the band grasps its roots and the music that influenced it. An engaging project work full of new discoveries for fans — a record where the band’s playfulness shines.
