NO SMOKE WITHOUT FIRE

No Smoke Without Fire is Anthem's sixth studio album, released on 21 March 1990 on King Records' Nexus label. It runs a little over forty-four minutes. It was the first Anthem record made outside Japan, cut in London. The plan had been to work again with Chris Tsangarides, but songwriting ran late and the dates would not line up, so Tony Taverner, whose credits include Nazareth, produced it instead. Don Airey, formerly of Rainbow, guests on keyboards. Yoya Fukuda plays all the guitar, but he told the band he was leaving in February 1990, once the record was finished, and was gone before it reached the shops; needing someone who could step straight in, Anthem brought in Hideaki Nakama that March. "Love On The Edge", the band's first advance single, appeared on 5 March 1990 and is on the album. Music for Nations released it in the United Kingdom. The 2005 remaster added the instrumental "A.D.D" as a bonus track.
