BOUND TO BREAK

Bound To Break is Anthem's third studio album, released on 5 March 1987 on King Records' Nexus label as K32Y 2063. It runs a little under forty-two minutes. It was made with Chris Tsangarides, who had worked with Gary Moore and Thin Lizzy, and is the record most often named as the best of the band's early work. It is Anthem's own kind of heavy metal from first bar to last, and the title track has stayed in the set ever since the band reformed. "Show Must Go On!" was used, along with "Light It Up" from Tightrope, in the anime Devilman: The Birth. The Japanese magazine Burrn! gave the album 95 out of 100. From this record on, Anthem albums were issued on LP, cassette and CD simultaneously, and no edition of it has ever carried a bonus track. Restless Records released it in the United States, and in June 1987 the band played their first shows abroad, in Los Angeles; the live album The Show Carries On!, released later that year, was recorded there.
