LINER NOTES
LANGUAGE
Bonfire is AC/DC's five-CD tribute to Bon Scott. EastWest first released it in November 1997, the first collection of the band's work with Scott since his death on 19 February 1980, and Back in Black, the fifth disc, is the only one he does not sing on. Ultimate Classic Rock reports that the liner notes explain the title: Scott used to threaten, mostly in jest, to make a solo album called Bonfire. This is Columbia's 2011 pressing. The first disc, Live from the Atlantic Studios, was taped at Atlantic's New York studio in December 1977 and until then had been issued only as a promotional album for radio. The second and third are the complete concert of the film Let There Be Rock, recorded at the Pavillon de Paris in December 1979 and never before released as a soundtrack. The fourth, Volts, gathers demos, alternate versions, live and TV recordings from the band's vaults, among them "Dirty Eyes", the early form of "Whole Lotta Rosie". The RIAA certified the box platinum on 24 January 2001. Forty-two tracks in all.
