2019年結成、イギリスのメロディック・メタルコア5人組DEFECTSが、2024年のデビュー作『MODERN ERROR』に続いて放つ2ndフル・アルバム。Mascot Recordsより2026年10月16日発売（海外）。デビュー作の発表後は"Download Festival"などへの出演でライヴ・パフォーマンスの高さが評価され、昨年はTRIVIUMのヨーロッパ・ツアーにサポート・アクトとして帯同した。今年初めにヴォーカルのトニー・マウとギタリストを除くメンバーを大幅に入れ替えた新体制で本作の制作に臨んでいる。先行曲「Signs」にはTRIVIUMのマシュー・キイチ・ヒーフィーがゲスト・ヴォーカルで参加。現実世界で今も続く戦禍に苦しむ人々を歌った曲で、映画的な映像のMVが公開されている。タイトル曲「Artificial Icons」のリリック・ビデオも公開済み。

Formed in 2019, British melodic metalcore five-piece Defects follow their 2024 debut Modern Error with this second full-length, released by Mascot Records on 16 October 2026. Festival appearances including Download built their live reputation after the debut, and last year they supported Trivium on a European tour. The record was made by a heavily rebuilt line-up — vocalist Tony Maue and one guitarist are the only members carried over from the earlier band. Trivium's Matthew K. Heafy guests on the lead single "Signs", a song about the people still suffering in the wars going on in the real world, and a lyric video for the title track "Artificial Icons" has been released as well.
