Self Hell is the sixth album by While She Sleeps, the metalcore band formed in Sheffield in 2006 who debuted with This Is The Six in 2012 and took You Are We to number eight in the UK in 2017. The riffs are as heavy as ever, but a much wider listening has been brought in — Aphex Twin, Gorillaz, Bicep, The Prodigy and Kendrick Lamar all get named — along with old synthesizers such as the KORG MS-20 and the Behringer TD-3. Every member grew up in the mining villages around Sheffield, and the defiant nothing-to-lose temper running through the record comes from there. Carl Bown, their collaborator of many years, produced it with the band's guitarist Sean Long, and it was recorded at Metropolis in London, at Treehouse in Chesterfield and at Six Audio, the band's own room in Sheffield. Ultra-Vybe issued the Japanese-packaged edition on 29 March 2024. Twelve tracks, about forty-five minutes.
