Die in Fire - Live in Hell is a live album by Watain, the Swedish black metal band, recorded at a 2022 show at home in Sweden. Twelve songs lean on their seventh album, The Agony & Ecstasy of Watain of 2021, and include a cover of Bathory's "The Return of Darkness and Evil". They are the band most often named as carrying the genuine danger of 1990s black metal into this century, and they are thorough about it -- the music, the words and the look all of a piece. What makes them popular as well as feared is the stage, and this record is the quickest way to hear how songs that are violent and somehow catchy at once actually land in a hall.
