Symphonique

A live album by Voivod, the Canadian band formed in 1983 in Québec's Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region, recorded with the Orchestre symphonique de Québec on 4 June 2025 at the Grand Théâtre in Québec City. Twelve songs, some 73 minutes. Hugo Bégin wrote the orchestrations, from the guitar and bass scores that guitarist Daniel "Chewy" Mongrain says he supplied him. The line-up is Denis "Snake" Bélanger on vocals, Mongrain on guitar, Dominic "Rocky" Laroche on bass and Michel "Away" Langevin on drums; Langevin also drew the cover. The setlist reaches from "Nuclear War", off the 1984 album War and Pain, to "Holographic Thinking" from Synchro Anarchy in 2022; four of the twelve are Nothingface songs and three come from Dimension Hatröss. "Astronomy Domine" is the Pink Floyd song Voivod recorded for Nothingface in 1989. Langevin says a second orchestral collaboration, with the Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay–Lac-St-Jean, is planned for 2027. Century Media released it worldwide on 5 June 2026; Sony Music Labels put out the Japanese Blu-spec CD2, with liner notes, the same day. "Forgotten In Space (Symphonique)" and "The End Of Dormancy (Symphonique)" came out ahead of it. Twelve songs.
