Consequence of the City is the debut album by Velveteen Queen, a four-piece from Gothenburg, and their first record to be released in Japan. The members met at school in 2021 and the band took its present shape when singer Samuel Nilsson moved to the city and joined. Four singles followed the first, "Trauma", in March 2022, and in that time they played Sweden Rock Festival, Skogsrojet, Kristianstad Rockfest and Malmofestivalen at home and went out with Nestor on a Swedish tour. The album was recorded at Crehate Studio, where In Flames and The Halo Effect have worked. Everyone in the band is in their twenties, and what they play is the raw American hard rock of the late 1980s and early 1990s, with Aerosmith and Guns N' Roses audible behind it. The album appeared on 3 May 2024; King Records issued the Japanese CD (KICP-4089) on 15 January 2025 with a commentary booklet, translated lyrics and a re-recorded "Concrete Crusader" heard nowhere else.
