LINER NOTES
This is the 20th anniversary edition of Contraband, the first Velvet Revolver album. The band formed in 2002 around Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum, all recently out of Guns N' Roses, with the late Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots singing and Dave Kushner, formerly of the Dave Navarro band, on guitar. Released in 2004, it entered the Billboard 200 at number one, and "Slither" won the Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance the following year. The anniversary edition pairs a new remaster with a bonus disc of six rarities — an acoustic "Fall To Pieces" and covers of the Sex Pistols, Cheap Trick, Aerosmith, Nirvana and Pink Floyd that had appeared on single B-sides and a tour edition. Overseas it came out on double vinyl and digitally on 13 September 2024; only Japan got it on CD, where Sony Music Labels issued it on 25 September 2024 as a limited Blu-spec CD2 set, SICP-31736, in a paper sleeve using the vinyl artwork.
