Eight years separate Beyond the Stars from Valhalore's first album. The Australians formed in 2013, made Voyage into Eternity in 2017, toured Japan in 2018 and then worked mostly in singles before signing to ROAR, the Reigning Phoenix Music imprint, for this second full record; Ward Records issued the Japanese CD (GQCS-91605) on 11 April 2025 with translated lyrics and a commentary booklet. Their music pulls melodic death metal, power metal, symphonic metal and folk metal into one broad, stately sound, played by Lachlan Neate (vocals, cello, mandolin), guitarists Anthony Willis, Morgan Cox and Lucas Fischer, Sophie Christensen on wind instruments and Joseph Dipisa-Fiorenza on bass. Anna Murphy guests on "Heart of the Sea". Four of the twelve songs have official videos and "A Walk Among the Stars" a visualizer.
