Universe III is the third album in a line that began in 1982 in Upplands Väsby, Sweden, where the hard rock band Universe formed out of several local groups. They left one self-titled album behind in 1985 and split, and it took until 2018 for them to return — as Universe Infinity, with Andreas Eklund singing, on a record called Rock Is Alive. Then, from the summer of 2021, nothing: no news, no posts, and what looked like a quiet end. In the summer of 2022 a band called Universe III appeared instead, the same project under a third name, with the founding guitarist Michael Kling no longer part of it and no explanation given. Through every change of name and personnel the melodies have kept the wistful Scandinavian cast of the 1985 debut. Pride & Joy Music released it on 17 May 2024 and Marquee Incorporated issued the Japanese edition, MICP-11885, on 22 May with an acoustic version of "To Serve And Protect" added — eleven tracks, about fifty-seven minutes.
