Closer To The Sun is Tyketto's first studio album in about ten years and the first made by the current line-up, in which founding singer Danny Vaughn is joined by musicians whose past or present bands include Thunder, Waysted, Britny Fox and Ten. The band, who had a US hit with "Forever Young" from their 1991 Geffen debut Don't Come Easy, have since moved their activity to Europe, where they play festivals such as Sweden Rock. Vaughn has described "We Rise" as one of a couple of arena-rock anthems made in the spirit of that first album, and traces the title track, which he calls a bit of a fantasy piece, to Kate Hudson's role in Almost Famous; Andy Pilkington made the title track's video. Silver Lining Music released the album on 20 March 2026, the same day as King Records' Japanese edition (KICP-4113), a Blu-spec CD that adds an acoustic version of "The Picture" to the eleven songs. "Higher Than High", "We Rise" and "Closer To The Sun" have official videos, and "Starts with a Feeling", "The Picture" and "The Brave" were posted as official audio.
