Commandments - An Anthology

Commandments - An Anthology is a sixteen-track Tiamat compilation, first released by Century Media in 2007, that Back On Black reissues on CD and on clear-vinyl double LP on 20 November 2026. The songs run in order of release across the Swedish band's first eight studio albums, so the disc follows Johan Edlund's group from its death-doom beginnings to gothic metal and on to gothic rock. It opens with "Where The Serpents Ever Dwell" from the 1990 debut Sumerian Cry, an album recorded at Sunlight Studio in Stockholm in 1989, when the band was still called Treblinka. Two songs apiece then come from The Astral Sleep (1991), Clouds (1992), Wildhoney (1994), A Deeper Kind of Slumber (1997), Skeleton Skeletron (1999), Judas Christ (2002) and Prey (2003), "The Sleeping Beauty", "Gaia", "Cold Seed" and "Vote For Love" among them. Prey's "Cain" also found a home in the video game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, and the closing "Divided (Edit)" cuts the 5:20 album track from Prey down to 3:58. The same label has A Deeper Kind of Slumber, Skeleton Skeletron, Judas Christ and Prey back on CD with a release date of 23 October 2026. Amazon.co.jp lists the CD (BOBV1293CD) and the double LP (BOBV1293LP) as imports, both dated 20 November.
